All,
I’ve been a supporter of stopclustermunitions.org over the years, both philosophically and financially, and I’m doing something special with DMZ #50. ”Little Plastic Toys” is a four-page silent story, expertly illustrated by Fabio Moon, and I’m donating my page rates from that story to stopclustermunitions.org.
I urge everyone to check out DMZ #50 as well as [...]
This week sees the release of DMZ #49, part 5 of 5 of the “Hearts And Minds” storyline. The cover, at least the cover seen in previews, looks like this:
That is not the actual cover, though. It’s actually redacted to hide the image, which is what this whole issue, this whole arc, and really the [...]
I’m not 100% sure what I’m reading, but its a lengthy look at Northlanders versus The Lord Of The Rings in the context of a D&D campaign.
What exactly lies at the intersection of Northlanders and Lord of the Rings isn’t clear, and that’s the point. An RPG campaign, like a TV series, is a question, [...]
A month ago or so, Arizona’s Khepri Comics relaunched its website, offering exclusives by Brian Wood, Cliff Chiang, and Ryan Kelly, among others. They’re also tagging all books and swag by Standard Attrition members, and you can jump right to that collection here.
So in addition to exclusives like Cliff’s Atomic Bombshell Prints, Brian Wood’s SDCC [...]

Artists Rebekah Isaacs and Fiona Staples are joining me in re-launching DV8 for Wildstorm early next year. It’s a back-to-basics sort of re-boot, bringing the series back from 1996* and making it relevant again. More info and a lot of artwork here.

There is such a beauty to an artist’s pencils sometimes… not just the cool behind-the-scenes nature of it, but a rawness and an energy to the line that is just never the same when inked.

I whipped this up for artist Leandro Fernandez, who is taking on the next long Northlanders story “The Plague Widow” (#21-28). It was far easier to give him this than put it into words.
This is something I’ve not done yet in the book – set a story in what is [...]
Off to the Oslo Comics Expo this week, flying out of New York on Wednesday with an early morning layover in Reykjavik before landing in Oslo. I had a choice, actually, between Reyk and Paris for layover, but I have quickly learned to fly Icelandair whenever possible. I need to sell a few more Northlanders [...]

This weekend Madame Xanadu artist Amy Hadley and I will be at ComicFest in Denver. Tried to get Jason Aaron to come too but he said hells nah. Here’s some info.
I will have a table, along with a not-mentioned-before new designbook, appropriately entitled Public Domain 2. First fifty copies in existence will be [...]
Both Newsarama and CBR have posted glowing reviews of ‘The Cross + The Hammer’, which I find particularly gratifying, since we gambled a bit on it, producing a crime story with a fairly even keel to it until the very end, when we completely spun it on its head.
Newsarama: The book may indeed read [...]

The conclusion to “The Cross + The Hammer” and another successful Wood/Kelly joint. Soon: the three-part DMZ “No Future” arc. A handy checklist:
_ Local
_ The New York Four
_ Northlanders Book 2
_ DMZ #42-44
Any requests?

Ryan Kelly is coming in for this arc, a three-part story that goes inside an infamous death cult operating out of the Empire State Building.
