Northlanders Production Crap

I whipped this up for artist Leandro Fernandez, who is taking on the next long Northlanders story “The Plague Widow” (#21-28). It was far easier to give him this than put it into words.

This is something I’ve not done yet in the book – set a story in what is basically a city, complete with blocks, plazas, alleyways, slums, and a police force.

This is the sort of thing I include in scripts for Riccardo.

This photo helps us envision an entire scene. It serves as a guide so we’re on the same page with angles and distances. I can write “Matty looks left towards the copter” and he’ll know what the background buildings are and where the vehicles are in relation, etc.

The New York Four: First Pass Proposal

Here is the first pass at the NY4 proposal, from January of 2006, such as it is. Obviously a lot changed, a lot just plain sucked, or was tweaked to better fit Minx. I always love this stage of the proposal process, when its more of a conversation, a stream-of-consciousness than a formal proposal:
