Awesome stuff. Loved Huat's art on Silver Surfer In Thy Name. Really fluid, loose lines.

Did you ask for Huat based on In Thy Name, or did Mr. Sitterson suggest him...?

I know Eng Huat personally and he's an amazing draftsman and a real perfectionist.
Seems like he turned his artwork up a notch again after his silver surfer gig! Shocked

Hmmm.... I like the art. Kinda reminds me of Adam Kubert's for some reason, but now I'm curious:

1. Will Huat be replacing Roland B permanently after issue 23, or is it only temporary?

2. Is that a prison cell Johnny's in? Does this mean we'll be seeing more familar faces while he's in jail?

On a side note: That big guy JB's grappling against looks eerily similar to Big Daddy Dawson (Vol. 1 villain)! Shocked

OK, here's the thing:

The more I see of this, the more interested I get in this series. I've hesitated mostly because I've never read an issue of Ghost Rider before in my life. Actually, I've read very little mainstream superhero Marvel or DC. I've been guilty of comic book snobbery in the past, I have to admit. I'm trying to rectify it - bought the omnibus of Grant Morrison run on X-Men a while back - but I'm still kind of intimidated by the huge and often unwieldy continuity in many of these titles. So, after a longwinded explanation, my question is:
Is it possible to just jump in to Jason's run on Ghost Rider without any prior knowledge of the story or character, and still get the full experience out of it? I realise there's always going to be references to past events and such, but does it stand on its own?

Based on the first issue, I'd say it's a great place to jump on.

For me, Ghost Rider has always been the comic equivalent of a Bad Ass Wizard airbrushed on the side of a van. Before Jason got on the book I wouldn't have taken a free copy.

I read and enjoyed his first issue and didn't feel the least bit encumbered by any continuity confusion.

I say give it a go.

ON TOPIC: Is that Crazy-Big dude wielding decorative tuning forks?

The two guys will be rotating. Roland is doing the first four-part arc. Tan will be doing the four issues after that. And then Roland will come back.

Yes, it is a prison cell. But no, there won't be any familiar faces popping up in this particular arc. The arc after this one though will feature more familiar faces than you can shake a stick at.

Yeah, I guess you're right. Wasn't intentional though. How the hell do you remember Big Daddy Dawson?

I sure hope so. That's the plan, at least.

Aubrey was Tan's editor on the Silver Surfer book, so he brought Tan aboard. I was already a fan of his work from the Doom Patrol days though.

Yes, exactly. His name's The Tuner and when he finds the right frequency, he can give you a mildly annoying headache.

Either that, or his name's The Deacon and those are big ass knives he uses to eviscerate sinners.

Oh, I see. I was worried because I'm really digging Roland's art and it would've been a shame to lose him far too soon...

That's cool to hear! Mr. Green I'd really love to see some old rouges like The Orb, Skinner, and Centurious again.

LOL! I could never forget those classic JB rouges: The Orb, Witch Woman, and Centurious -- even Big Daddy D (cheesy as he was! Razz). The 70's was my favorite -- much more sensible and better written than the terribly convoluted 90's (Danny Ketch) era.

It's certainly nice to see Tan's art in basically a four panel grid. As good as Silver Surfer: In Thy Name was, those wee panels just didn't do his art justice - as if it needed to be blown up in an omnibus edition or something. It sort of distracted from the story.

I really like the choice to alternate between those two every 4 issues.
